Pick Me Up Before You...Pin It ?

Never in my life would I have thought I’d be making a Pinterest board with positive quotes. Hold on, let me rephrase that, I didn’t think I would be into using Pinterest at all; needless to say, I am obsessed.

About a month ago I rediscovered the wonders of said social media platform, creating boards about room redecorating ideas, braid inspirations, and even recipes I might never get around to making. On one of those off days one tends to have, I dove into the black hole that is Pinterest in hopes to find some pick me up. Three hours later and a new board titled “Sometimes You Just Need Kind Words” I felt a whole lot better.

We live in a society where everything is picked on, whatever you say you like people tend to tear apart; whether it makes you feel better or not, people don’t care. I am not the most confident or put together person, but throughout the years I’ve learned to care less about what people think, and care more of what makes me feel better and at ease.

Having nice quotes to look at when you’re at your most vulnerable might not be the cure to all of your problems, but it does help to make you think you can conquer the world. Those silly quotes you spend hours looking for on the Internet can ease your mind when you don’t want to bother your friends with your everyday crises.

Just like those quotes, Spotify playlists filled with everything from Feeling Myself by Queen BeyoncĂ© and Nicki Minaj, to Little Me by Queens Little Mix, to even What Makes You Beautiful by the biggest dorks ever known as One Direction, music can also be that friend when you just don’t want to bother your real friends. Now that I mention it I should probably follow that advice and make that playlist.

The point of this post is that you can find comfort in the smallest things. Tune off those dicks of the world, and seek consolation in the things you like, whether it’s TV Series, YouTube, Pinterest boards, music, fanfics or any type of art. Although the sense of security and burst of confidence is only temporary, it sure does help.

With enough cheesiness to make a hella good grilled cheese,
